LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH (referred to in the following as "LeasePlan"; information about LeasePlan is available here) is delighted that you are visiting our website. We consider the privacy and security of user data to be extremely important. For this reason, we would like to tell you here what personal information we collect during your visit to the website, and for what purpose it is used.
Please read this Data Privacy Statement regularly since changes in legislation or in our internal company processes may require that it be amended. It can be downloaded, saved and printed at any time under Data Privacy Statement.
§ 1 Scope of validity
This Data Privacy Statement applies to the LeasePlan website, which can be accessed at www.leaseplan.de as well as various subdomains (referred to in the following as "our website").
§ 2 What is personal data?
Personal data comprises information that can be used to learn about your personal or factual circumstances (e.g. your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, or email address). Information which we cannot use (or only with disproportionate effort) to establish a reference to your person, for example by means of anonymization, is not personal data.
§ 3 What personal data do we collect/process and use?
You can use most of our website without the need to disclose personal data.
Access data without any personal reference, such as the name of your internet service provider, the web page from which you visit us, the names of requested files and their retrieval date, is saved. This data is used solely to improve our services, and does not allow any conclusions whatsoever to be drawn about your person.
However, if you want to take advantage of any of the services offered on our website, such as subscribing to a newsletter, etc., it may be necessary for you to enter further details. This is the data that is required to process your request, e.g. your email address when subscribing to a newsletter.
We use the information we collect about you to provide our products and services, to answer your questions, and for operating and improving our websites and applications.
We use your personal information exclusively to enable us to offer a comprehensive service via our website or, if you use our contact form or other forms, to provide the requested service.
We do not use your personal data for any other purposes. It will not be passed on to third parties or used for advertising purposes without your consent (except in the cases described below) unless we are required by law to disclose data (provision of information to law enforcement agencies and courts; provision of information to public authorities which obtain data on account of legal regulations, such as social security agencies, tax authorities, etc.), or if we engage a third party under an obligation to professional secrecy to enforce our claims. Specifically, personal data is used as follows:
To be able to register for our email newsletter, in addition to your consent we need at least your email address where the newsletter is to be sent. Any other information you provide is voluntary and used to address you personally, to formulate the content of the newsletter in a personal manner, and so we can clarify any queries about the email address. Whether you give us this information is your free choice. However, we cannot send you our newsletter without these details.
We generally use the double opt-in method for sending newsletters. This means that we will not send you the newsletter until you have first confirmed your registration by clicking a link in the confirmation email sent to you for this purpose. In this way, we ensure that only you, as the owner of the specified email address, are able to log on for the newsletter. Your confirmation in this regard must be given within 48 hours of receiving the confirmation email, as otherwise your newsletter subscription will be automatically deleted from our database.
When you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address will be used for our own advertising purposes until such time as you unsubscribe from the newsletter. If you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, you can either send an informal email to email@example.com, or you can click the unsubscribe link at the end of the newsletter.
b) Contact form
If you use our contact form to send us enquiries, we ask you to submit your first and last names, the name of your company, and (depending on which contact method you have selected) your email address or phone number. You can also enter a personal message in the message box.
Whether you give us this information is your free choice. However, we cannot contact you without these details.
§ 4 Cookies
We do not create any personal user profiles except in the cases mentioned above. When you access our website, we only store data in anonymised form on our servers so that we can provide our various services or for evaluation purposes. This involves the logging of general information, for example what website content is accessed and when, or which pages are visited most frequently.
One purpose of these cookies is to determine the usage frequency and the number of users to our web pages, as well as to enable us to be able to continue to identify your computer while you are visiting our website, and for determining the end of your visit when you switch to another website from one of our web pages. In this way, we can learn which areas of our website have been visited, and what other websites our users have visited. This usage data does not, however, allow any conclusions to be drawn about the user. None of this anonymously collected usage data is collated with your personally identifiable data pursuant to § 3 of this Data Privacy Statement, and it is deleted immediately after a statistical evaluation. The session cookies are deleted as soon as you quit your browser session.
Additionally, we use long term cookies solely for the purpose of temporarily hiding information banners after you click the Close button. Without long term cookies, information banners would be displayed every time you visit our website, and therefore have a negative impact on your user experience. These long term cookies only store the instruction not to display the respective information banner.
Most browsers are configured by default to automatically accept cookies. However, you can deactivate this function or configure your browser so that it notifies you before cookies are saved. Users who do not accept cookies may not be able to access certain areas of our websites.
§ 5 Integration of social network plug-ins
Plug-ins for the social networks “Facebook” ( Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA), “Google+” (Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA), and “Twitter” (Twitter, Inc. 1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA) are also integrated in our websites.
These are operated solely by the respective provider. The plug-ins are made identifiable on our website by the button for the respective service.
When you visit any page of our websites that contains such a plug-in, your browser establishes a connection to the servers of the respective service, which in turn causes the contents of the plug-in to be delivered to your browser and integrated in the displayed page. In this way, the information about your visit to our website is forwarded to the respective service. If you are logged on to the respective service via your personal account at the same time when you visit our website (e.g. from another browser session), the service can associate your visit with your account.
The plug-ins enable users to share and post links to relevant web pages on social networking sites, or to recommend content on the pages. Through your active interaction with these plug-ins, for example when you click the relevant button or leave a comment, this information is transmitted directly to the respective service and stored there.
If you want to prevent the transmission of such data, you must log off your user account for the respective service before visiting our website. For details about the scope and purpose of the collection of data by a service, and how your data is processed and used there, please refer to the data privacy notice on the respective service’s website (www.facebook.com/about/privacy/ , https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/?hl=de; http://twitter.com/privacy;). There you will also find additional information about your relevant data privacy rights, and configuration options for protecting your privacy.
§ 6 Integration of the XING plug-in

§ 7 Integration of LinkedIn plug-ins
Plug-ins for the social network LinkedIn from LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (referred to in the following as "LinkedIn") are also integrated in our web pages. These LinkedIn plug-ins are identifiable by the LinkedIn logo or the “Recommend” button on the pages. When you visit our web pages, a direct connection is established between your browser software and the LinkedIn server via the plug-in. In doing so, LinkedIn is notified that you have visited our web page from your IP address. You can link the contents of our web pages with your LinkedIn profile by clicking the LinkedIn “Recommend” button while you are logged on to your LinkedIn account. This enables LinkedIn to associate your visit to our web pages with your user account. Please note that we as the provider of these web pages have no knowledge about the content of the transmitted data or how it is used by LinkedIn.
Details about the collection of data (purpose, scope, further processing, use), as well as your rights and configuration options, are given in LinkedIn’s data privacy notice, which can be viewed at http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=privacy_policy&trk=hb_ft_priv.
§ 8 Piwik
Your IP address is anonymised after the data has been processed and before it is stored. We explicitly point out, however, that despite the fully activated anonymization function, pseudonymization takes place instead of anonymization. When it is used, Piwik creates an internal hash value calculated from different factors such as your IP address, the screen resolution, your browser, the plug-ins you are using, and your operating system. Even if the anonymization function is activated, this heuristic uses the full IP address for internal purposes. This means that a backward calculation of the values to recreate the IP address is possible with some effort, and therefore the other information can be derived with a great degree of reliability.
If you therefore do not agree to the storage and evaluation of this data, you can withdraw your consent at any time (by clicking the link below). (A so-called opt-out cookie is then stored in your browser, meaning that no session data is collected by Piwik.)
Your visit to this web page is currently being recorded by Piwik. Click here to prevent your visit from being recorded.
§ 9 Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google“). Google Analytics uses so-called cookies (small text files) which are saved on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a server operated by Google in the United States and stored there. Google will also make this information available to third parties when this is legally prescribed or in cases where third parties process this data on behalf of Google.
By activating IP anonymization for this website, Google will first shorten your IP address within the member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted by Google to a server in the United States and stored there. Please note that on this website Google Analytics has been supplemented with the code “gat._anonymizelp();” to ensure that IP addresses are recorded anonymously (so-called IP masking).
Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate your use of the website for the purpose of compiling reports on website activity, and to render other website usage-related and internet-related services on behalf of the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser software within the scope of Google Analytics will not be merged with other data gathered by Google.
You can adjust the settings of your browser to prevent cookies from being stored on your computer; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website.
You can also download and install the browser add-on available at the link given below to prevent Google from recording the data generated by the cookie relating to your use of the website: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
For further information, please refer to http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de or http://www.google.com/intl/de/analytics/learn/privacy.html (general information about Google Analytics and data privacy).
§ 10 Pardot
Our website uses Pardot Services, an analytical tool of salesforce.com, inc, The Landmark @ One Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Pardot Services will set no more than two cookies. These are text files that are stored on your computer and allow us to analyse your use of the website. The cookies are a "visitor cookie and a "Pardot app session cookie". The visitor cookie generates an ID number used to recognise the browser of the website visitor. The ID number is a generated numerical code that has no significance outside Pardot Services. The Pardot App session cookie is not set unless a customer logs onto the Pardot App as a user. All cookies contain only the number code generated. We also use Pardot in the registration process for our e-mail service. E-mails that are sent with Pardot use tracking technologies. We use this data to find out what topics you’re interested in by tracking whether our e-mails are opened and which links are clicked on. This information helps us to improve the e-mails that we send to you and the services we provide. If you wish to disable Pardot tracking you can change your browser settings or execute the appropriate browser extension. However, this can lead to functional restrictions and impair our website’s user friendliness.
§ 11 Security measures for protecting data stored in our systems
We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal information in a confidential manner. To avoid any loss or misuse of data stored in our systems, we implement extensive technical and organisational security measures, which are regularly reviewed and adapted in line with technological progress. Please note, however, that, on account of how the internet is structured, it is possible that the rules of data protection and the safeguarding measures described above may not be complied with by other persons or institutions outside of our area of responsibility. In particular, information that is disclosed without being encrypted – including by email – can be read by third parties. We have no technical influence over this happening. It is the responsibility of the user to protect the data provided by him or her against abuse by means of encryption or another suitable method.
§ 12 Links to third-party websites
Our website contains so-called hyperlinks to websites operated by other providers. When you click one of these hyperlinks, you will be redirected from our website directly to the website of the other provider. You can also recognise this by the fact that the URL changes. We cannot assume any responsibility for the confidentiality of your data on these third-party websites since we have no control over whether these companies comply with data privacy regulations. Please inform yourself directly on these websites about how the respective companies handle your personally identifiable data.
§ 13 Information about your personal data saved in our systems/storage duration/deletion
We only store your personal information for as long as is permitted under law. Stored personally identifiable data is deleted when the user withdraws his or her consent to the data being saved, or if knowledge about this data is no longer required in order to fulfil the purpose of the storage, in particular if the user account is deleted or storage of the data is not permitted for any other legal reasons.
We will gladly inform you at your request about the data we have stored about your person. Should incorrect data be stored in our systems despite our efforts to use correct and current data, we will remedy this situation without delay.
You have the opportunity at any time to review, change or delete provided personal data by sending us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you want us to delete the stored data, this will take place without delay at your request. Any data that cannot be deleted for legal reasons will be blocked instead. Please note, however, that we will no longer be able to offer you the services described here if your data is deleted.
§ 14 External data privacy officer
If you have any other questions or suggestions regarding data privacy at our company, or concerning the information provided here, please contact our external data privacy officer directly:
